Meet Your Instructor

Hi, I'm Matt!

I’m a professional trumpet player, music educator, and lifelong student of music. I’ve been performing professionally since 2012, and one of my greatest joys is helping young musicians discover what they’re capable of.

I hold a Bachelor of Music in Church Music from Lee University, where I studied trumpet under Nathan Warner, Phil Morehead, and Tina Erickson.

Over the years, I’ve performed at hundreds of concerts and events across 14 states and three countries, including the United States, China, and Japan. My experience spans everything from jazz combos and wedding bands to musical theater, orchestras, worship conferences, and studio recordings. I regularly perform with the MaleMen Show Band, Tasteful Tea Band, and Kelly & Co.

But here’s what matters most when it comes to teaching: I believe the best music lessons help students become their own best teachers.

Rather than handing every student the same exercises and expecting identical results, I get to know each musician, understand their goals, and help them develop a personalized plan for improvement. I want students to understand not just what they’re practicing, but why it matters.

Whether you’re picking up a trumpet for the first time or working toward your next big audition, I’d love to help you take the next step in your musical journey.
